I was supposed to start my first job in April. Now they have postponed my joining. I am worried that they may cancel their offer due to economic conditions and I really need this job. I have taken loans to complete my study. It will be hard to find a job. I feel I am losing control over my life. I am helpless and at the mercy of someone. I was so confident and happy when I got this job. But now I feel stupid. ?

Well it's quite natural to feel anxious during this uncertain time especially when we were not ready for this pandemic. I totally understand your state of mind but at present what you can't do is control the given situation since it's not in your hand. So you shouldn't feel helpless and question your ability because it will simply harm your self-confidence. Overthinking is the biggest cause of our unhappiness. Keep yourself occupied. Keep your mind off things that don't help you to think positively.

I understand it is hard and a rough time for you at present, you must be feeling terrible and anxious. And you are experiencing immense grief at this moment. But I want you to understand that this was not in your hands. I am sure you must have done great in your interview and hence you got the offer. Try and see if this helps: 1) Contact the organization and check on their safety as well as the security of your position in the organization. 2) Explore if they have any remote (work from home) options available. 3) Check with the organization if they want you to expertise any skills. 4) Build up your horizon of knowledge about the field and be up to date, so that after the pandemic if you must reapply you can be up to the make. These are difficult times. There is a lot of uncertainity which is making us insecure. You are happy that you've got the job offer and are looking forward to join. However, due to lockdown you're feeling anxious and are worried. The best way to cope with this situation is to stay positive - focus on the present and keep yoursef mentally and physically active. Of course,you will be worried and anxious sometimes. In this situation, share your feelings and thoughts or practice yoga / exercises or meditation.
