I just feel so worthless and I can't motivate myself to do school work or anything fun and I can't even make myself get out of bed. What do I do? ?

Consistent hard work - is the key to SUCCESS. At times, you have to work hard – EVEN IF YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT. You want to feel full of self-worth, THEN WORK HARD. You want to feel motivated - THEN WORK HARD. If you can’t get yourself out of bed – then RESOLVE to get up and work harder. When you have worked hard to your full capacity - ONLY THEN will you feel SELF-WORTH & MOTIVATED. THEN AND ONLY THEN you will enjoy all the fun stuff because you will know you have EARNED IT.

It is okay to take some time to rest, relax and take a break. While you are recovering, you can decide if you want to continue some of the important work. It is also completely okay if you want to take a break from everything for a while. Whenever you decide to get back to work and do not find the motivation, set very small goals for yourself and be sure to make a routine and try your best to stick to it. There may be days when you fail to do so and that is okay. Treat the routine as a flexible guide. You can also speak to a counselor here to get more tips on the same!

Thank you for reaching out to Rich Psych. Due to lockdown most of us are confined at home and experiencing boredom. We are not doing our usual activities thus have lost habit of doing many activities. We have lost motivation to carry on our activities. To gear ourselves up, try to follow a daily activity schedule. Make a schedule and try to follow that gradually you will see you can do a lot of activities that you did before lockdown. Activities that you can add to the schedule are: Household chores, pursuing some hobbies like gardening, learning music, listening to songs, practicing some drawings or paintings etc. Try with connect to your old friends and relatives. Exercise - walking, deep breathing (if you do not have any serious physical problems). Try to spend some time with nature. Thanks!
