If you have a mental condition - like stress, anxiety, depression, etc., that needs to be addressed, THEN IT IS BETTER to speak to a counselor/therapist. They will guide and help you resolve issues. Pets will definitely help in the recovery process but they cannot replace a counselor/therapist.

Hello, Mental well-being is really a broad term. We need to understand that any living or non-living being which improves our relationship with ourselves can be fulfilling. Having pets can definitely enhance this feeling but a person should ask why they want to have a pet in first place? Which needs do you expect to be fulfilled from having a pet? Moreover, having a pet is a serious responsibility which if done right can be an excellent therapeutic relationship.
