Yes you will. Have the desire to get better and more importantly - be deeply willing to keep at it till you get better. A therapist will help and guide you through. There is nothing that cannot be ovecome.

Hello! Thank you for posting your question. Being diagnosed with a mental illness is never easy. Feeling/ getting better, after being diagnosed with any kind of mental illness, is a process. It also depends on the kind of illness with which one has been diagnosed. The good thing is that, irrespective of the disorder, with the right kind of therapy from a qualified therapist and the support and care of family and friends, it most definitely will get better. This won't happen overnight and you will have good days and bad ones. Try to enjoy and appreciate the good days and remember that the bad days won't last forever. Hope this answered your query!

Thanks for sharing your concern. Mental illness or physical illness can happen to anyone. If you are diagnosed with mental illness here we have to see what kind if mental illness you are diagnosed with - 1. Is it common mental illness like depression, anxiety, OCD, or bipolar or schizophrenia? 2. Who diagnosed - doctor or psychologist? Is the diagnosis reliable? If you have a doubt then go for another opinion. 3. Any illness has to be addressed - to cope or overcome. Who ever diagnosed must explain to you about the illness, plan of management and its prognosis. If not then you have right to know. 4. If you are taking any medication you must ask the doctor about the illness, what medication is being given and its side effects. 5. If you have any difficulty consult the professional who gave you the diagnosis or treating you for the same. 6. For more clarification, feel free to book an appointment on Rich Psych! Thanks!

Hello there! Hope you are doing good. Mental health and illness are still so barely touched upon by the general public that a lot of myths (false beliefs/perceptions) are still widely present. And if you count the top ten myths about mental illnesses, I am sure the belief that "once diagnosed with a mental illness one can never get better" will be there. Being diagnosed with a mental illness is not easy. But if someone asks the question that you asked, we would say that one can and will get better. However, the recovery, like that from a physical illness, depends on a number of factors. The nature of the illness (diagnosis), the duration and severity of it, how fast the treatment was taken, how involved the client was and the treating team in the healing process, etc. I would strongly recommend, to continue the professional help, no matter what the illness is and avail help from qualified professionals. Often recovery in mental illness is hindered by a delay in seeking help (some people wait for many years before coming to us) and once started, not following the treatment plan. Feel free to clarify your doubts further, if any. Wish you all the best, Take care!
